Phormium is a native to New Zealand and has been grown in California for a long procedure as a strong growing upright accent plant. The Phormium varieties offered by our firm make striking and unusual accents to our gardens. Our Phormium plants keep their leaves in winter, thrive in sun to part shade and perform well in containers, alone or with other plants. In many places, the Phormiums are planted along the sides of streams or around pond edges where these species grow very well. Developing best in a sunny position, these plants also have the capability to tolerate a fair amount of shade. Owing to their tough leaves, these are quite resistant to desiccation, thus, rarely requiring any extra watering. Phormium plant varieties are widely acknowledged to be best grown outdoors with a free root run but small, potted plants can be used as indoor plants in a sunny window or conservatory.
